Georgia Sea Turtle Center
With interactive and educational exhibits, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center offers a plethora of activities. For an authentic encounter with the sea turtle, experience nesting season which takes place in June and July, with the baby turtles hatching and crawling their way to the ocean in August.
For immersive experiences, head to 4-H Tidelands Nature Center which offers kayaking, coastal ecology programs and nature walks. Jekyll Island is home to a plethora of natural wildlife including deers, alligators and is a bird watchers paradise. More than 75 percent of native Georgia bird species visit the island annually.
Jekyll Island offers over 20 miles of paths and trails that weave around the island. Rent bikes from the Holiday Inn Resort or travel by foot from the shoreline to maritime forests. Take to the water with kayaking or paddle-boarding with several different tours or explore on your own.
The Beach Village, just two miles from the resort, offers an array of boutique beach shops, a grocery store, frozen yogurt spot, and restaurants that serve fresh seafood.
